Legal

The Island operates largely as an autonomous jurisdiction with wide powers of self-government. Jersey has its own Legislative Assembly, administrative, fiscal and legal systems and its own courts of law. The legal profession in Jersey is a fused profession with two branches, namely Solicitors, and Advocates of the Royal Court. The type of work carried out by Advocates and Solicitors is very much the same, save that of the two, only Advocates may appear before the Magistrate's Court, the Royal Court and the Court of Appeal.
