Confederation of Guernsey Industries

In 1995 the contribution to Island’s economy by the Finance, Horticulture and Tourism industries was generally understood and appreciated at a local level. However, the activities and financial contribution by the industrial sector was less well-known.

During this period, the States of Guernsey commissioned a report to study the structure and value of the industrial sector to the Island. This report concluded that ‘the sector makes an important contribution to the economy’ and recommended that it ‘can help itself by developing a representative body and so the CGi was born.

Now the CGi has over 100 member companies and represents over 5,500 employees which is approximately 17% of the Island's workforce. Amongst the many activities supported by the CGi, the organizations Technology Challenge for school pupils remains one of the most popular days in the school calendar.
