Alderney’s position as one of Europe’s leading e-gaming centres has been enhanced with the creation of a major new US$2million data centre.

The data centre is located in Guernsey – part of Alderney’s e-gaming jurisdiction - and has eventual capacity for more than 100 racks with redundant power to each one and N+1 UPS as well as air-conditioning systems and back-up generators. The centre is owned and managed by ITEX, the largest IT company in the Islands, which, in partnership with Wave Telecom also manages other elements of the project relating to IP communications infrastructure which features diverse upstream connectivity to the UK and to France.

The data centre is robust and meets the highest standards of security - a pre-requisite for the many Guernsey-based international financial services companies which are also data management clients of ITEX. The data centre covers some 6,000 square feet, effectively doubling the company’s capacity in the Island.

In addition to offering data centre suites and collocation services, Itex also provides warranty and support services for industry leading partners including HP, Sun, Cisco, and IBM. In addition a range of value added services are available including infrastructure planning and commissioning, hardware and software procurement, IT operations management.

The new centre ensures a world-class degree of resilience and quality in respect of electrical systems, cooling and telecommunications services, as demanded by modern business requirements.
