It’s been a busy few weeks for the Aurigny Trislanders, which flew 128 additional flights to ferry hundreds of tourists to and from this year’s Alderney Week.

Between Friday and Monday at start of the celebratory week, Aurigny ran 38 extra flights from Southampton to Alderney and 30 additional flights from Guernsey. From the Sunday to Tuesday after the event it then ran 29 extra flights to Southampton and 31 to Guernsey to get everyone home again.

‘Alderney Week is very important to the island and we always do what we can to ensure that as many people can get there to enjoy the week and bolster the island’s visitor economy,’ said Aurigny managing direct Malcolm Hart.

‘It is a very busy few weeks for us but we know how much the island relies on our services and we do our utmost to help where we can. During August we run 12 or 14 flights a day to and from Alderney and Southampton compared to the normal eight to meet visitor demand and 12 as opposed to the normal 10 going to and from Alderney and Guernsey.’

And Aurigny’s efforts were appreciated by the States of Alderney.

‘I would like to take this opportunity to thank Aurigny for their superb efforts during Alderney week. Their extra flights and professional approach helped to ensure a successful week which was enjoyed by all,’ said John Beaman the island’s tourism representative.
