Carey Olsen ranked in top five offshore firms
Leading legal magazine The Lawyer has published its annual survey of the top 20 law firms operating in offshore jurisdictions.
Channel Island’s firm Carey Olsen was placed in fifth spot, tied with Ogier and Mourant du Feu & Jeune. The firm was highest placed of law firms concentrating solely on the Channel Islands.
Key developments cited by the magazine include the appointment of John Kelleher as chairman and the Guernsey office’s move to new premises in a ‘landmark’ building.
John Greenfield, the firm's managing partner in Guernsey, said: "2009 saw organisations faced with a challenging business environment. We have strengthened our offering in both Jersey and Guernsey, increased the number of lawyers within the firm, appointed five new partners and moved to new offices in Guernsey as well as continuously improving our client service."
“This confidence has been reflected in our standing in the Lawyer’s annual survey where we have moved from eighth place into the top five. We are looking forward to carrying this momentum through into 2010.”
In recent months Carey Olsen has received Corporate INTL annual awards for dispute resolution, property and merger and acquisition work in the Channel Islands and is also the top ranked Channel Island firm in Hemscott’s quarterly rankings for London Stock Exchange listed clients. Individual lawyers from the firm have also featured prominently in Private Client Practitioner’s ‘50 Most Influential’ and Citywealth’s ‘Leaders List’.
