Channel Islands Stock Exchange announces International Business Summit in Jersey
Leading economists, senior finance industry figures from the UK and abroad and specialist investment strategists will converge on Jersey in September for The Channel Islands Stock Exchange (CISX) International Business Summit.
The Summit, the second hosted by the CISX and the first in Jersey, is designed to showcase the financial services of the Channel Islands, while focusing on some of the major issues which impact upon finance sector professionals globally.
The event is scheduled to take place during Battle of Britain Week on Friday, September 10th to help encourage delegates from overseas to consider extending their stay so they can enjoy the facilities and unique environment of the Channel Islands during one of the busiest weeks of the tourist season. The timing is also designed to provide local business with the opportunity to extend their corporate hospitality to clients with a view to strengthening business relationships.
Expert speakers from around the world will be joined by leading figures from the finance industry in the Channel Islands. The full list of speakers and presenters at the Summit has yet to be confirmed, however City economist and author, Roger Bootle, Paul Mortimer-Lee, Global Head of Market Economies at BNP Paribas, Maya Bhandari, economist at Lombard Street Research, Angela Knight, CBE, the Chief Executive of the British Bankers Association, and Dr James Chu, who heads up City of London based Blue Sky Asset Management, are just some of the expert speakers already confirmed.
The keynote address will be provided by Colin Powell, OBE, Chairman of the Offshore Group of Banking Supervisors and adviser on international affairs for the States of Jersey’s Chief Minister’s Department. Jonathan Hooley, Chairman of the CISX, will chair the Summit.
The one day event will be augmented by other specialist speakers including Michael B Jackson, internationally renowned business strategist and consultant on corporate marketing.
Tamara Menteshvili, Chief Executive, CISX, who announced details of the Summit at a presentation in Jersey this morning (March 18), commented:
‘We staged the international Business Summit in Guernsey for the first time last year. It was the first event of its type in the Island bringing together authoritative figures discussing topical issues facing the global financial services sector. The Summit attracted more than 230 delegates, half of whom were domiciled outside of the Channel Islands. Last year, as a unique feature of the Summit, over £18,000 was raised for local charities through event sponsors and this aspect of the event will hopefully raise even more funds for Jersey charities this year.
‘Our second Summit moves to the Hotel de France in Jersey and we anticipate an even larger audience than for the first. The ‘four corners of the world’ theme continues, which underscores the global reach of both the CISX and the Channel Islands, with a specific focus this year on Investment Strategies.’
The Summit is intended to create opportunities for the Islands’ financial services business, whilst positioning the Channel Islands as International Finance Centres of the highest standards.’
