Clydesdale appoints rugby legend as new ambassador

Rugby World Cup winner and former England utility back Mike Catt MBE has taken on an ambassadorial role for Clydesdale Bank International, which will see him represent the Bank at community and corporate events.

James Blower, managing director of Clydesdale Bank International is looking forward to welcoming such a renowned sportsman to the Island.

“Mike will be an inspiration to the Island’s Rugby Community and I look forward to confirming a visit from him in the near future. Clydesdale Bank International are keen to support local sporting talent and, in his role, Mike will be spending time at schools and clubs meeting and coaching young athletes,” he said.

Mike will also represent the Bank at business events and seminars. He will be sharing some of the secrets from his 20 years as a professional athlete to inspire and nurture new business talent.

Mike Catt said: “Clydesdale has a strong commitment to its local community and the loyalty and enthusiasm it displays in supporting sport is magnificent.

“Rugby is a game that teaches essential life skills such as team work, determination and discipline and through my work with Clydesdale Bank I will be looking to develop these skills at coaching sessions throughout the country.”

During his career Mike won the Rugby World Cup and Grand Slams with England and the Heineken Cup in 1998 with his former club side Bath. He captained his country against France in 2007 and he won 75 international caps during his career, making him the 7th highest in English history.

Mike has just announced his retirement from playing but he has just signed a three year contract extension as attack coach with Guinness Premiership team, London Irish.

Mike Catt will join the voice of UK athletics Steve Cram and current England cricketers Alastair Cook, Paul Collingwood and former England captain Alec Stewart as ambassadors for Clydesdale Bank International.
