Condor Express affected by engine damage

Condor Ferries regrets that it will be operating an amended schedule on certain services between the Channel Islands and the UK because of an engine problem with Condor Express.

A crack in the engine casing of one of the four engines on Condor Express was discovered during routine maintenance as the vessel was completing its winter refit. The casing will need to be replaced and the spare is now being cast in Continental Europe.

The ship has been running the UK route on three engines since the beginning of April. As a result of the need to operate on reduced power and to minimise disruption to our customers, Condor Express has been switched to operate out of Poole and Condor Vitesse is running from Weymouth.

Schedules have been adjusted to the end of the month and passengers are being informed directly by Condor Ferries via a telephone call or text message.
Simon Edsall, Managing Director of Condor Ferries, said:

‘We apologise for any inconvenience that this unforeseen technical failure and resulting amendments to our schedule have caused. By switching the two catamarans we have been able to reduce the schedule changes. We have kept our customers fully informed and delays to a minimum, which is important to both them and us.’
