Donkey Divers take the plunge
Tuesday 11 September 2012
One of the first teams to enter this year’s Skipton Swimarathon to be held at Beau Sejour from 3rd to 7th October is the Donkey Divers. They will be swimming under water in full scuba diving kit! There are four of them in the team: James Bolton, Steve Bougourd, Dupreez Vermeulen and Helen Bougourd.
Team member James Bolton is training to be a rescue diver, so this event will be good practice for him whilst fundraising for the Cardiac Action Group, this year’s lead beneficiary. The group will be raising money to help buy and provide training for twelve public access defibrillators, which will be placed at strategic locations throughout the community.
Part of James’ course includes the use of defibrillators, so the sponsored swim is highly relevant.
The Donkey Divers will be one of many teams taking part at this year’s event which is open to teams of 4 or more people. It’s all about having fun and raising money for local good causes.
