French businesses in Guernsey for trade links event
The Commerce and Employment Department, the Chamber of Commerce and Huelin Renouf have combined to organise an event at which Guernsey businesses will have the chance to meet traders from Normandy and France.
It is expected that about 40 French companies will attend the event on Thursday July 1st at the St Pierre Park hotel and Guernsey businesses are also being encouraged to attend in order to develop new, and strengthen existing, business-to-business trade links.
The event is being promoted in France by the Normandy Regional Chamber of Commerce and assisted by the Maison de la Normandie et de la Manche, an agency which supports closer links between Normandy and the Channel Islands.
Deputy Robert Sillars, the Chairman of Commerce and Employment’s Business Guernsey Group, said, ‘We hope that this will be a really positive event for Guernsey businesses that might be looking to develop new trade links. With a new Huelin Renouf freight service into Cherbourg, trading with our nearest neighbour is easier than ever and we hope that local companies will consider the opportunities to the east of the Island as well as the more traditional northern location.’
Julian Winser, the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, said, ‘We’re very happy to be supporting this initiative and are passing this information directly on to our membership. We will soon be uploading the list of attending French companies on our website and we encourage Guernsey businesses to visit the site to see who will be there.’
The event is aimed at all sectors and will run from 10:00 to 16:00 along the lines of a business speed-dating event, giving local businesses the chance to meet several French traders quickly in a short time if they wish.
Attendance at the event is free, but individuals will need to register their attendance. See link below.
