Guernsey Advocate awarded GlobalScot status
Wednesday 03 February 2010
Elaine Gray, partner at AO Hall, has been appointed to the GlobalScot network, which aims to utilise the skills, knowledge and expertise of successful Scottish business men and women. GlobalScot, which is endorsed by Scotland’s First Minister Alex Salmond, has 912 members around the world.
Membership of GlobalScot is by recommendation only and is based on the individual’s seniority, experience and track record. Advocate Gray said it was an honour to be recognised her home country.
‘Scotland has produced some talented and ambitious people who have really made their mark in countries across the world and so I feel humbled to be part of that prestigious group. I hope that I can support new and expanding Scottish businesses and promote Scotland’s strong entrepreneurial history and capabilities,’ she said.
Advocate Gray left Scotland in 2003 and spent three years in the Cayman Islands gaining experience in multi-jurisdictional litigation disputes before moving to Guernsey. In 2009 she was called to the Bar and made a partner at AO Hall.
She specialises in all aspects of employment and intellectual property law and as a GlobalScot will be called upon to give Scottish companies the advice they need to succeed and also to support Scottish Enterprise which manages the network.
‘Guernsey is a fantastic location for business investment and I look forward to playing a small part in its future success. This appointment offers a wonderful opportunity to promote Guernsey within, and to, the Scottish business community - an opportunity which is very timely given the exciting developments in Guernsey’s intellectual property regime and in particular, the excellent and innovative work being done by Guernsey’s Intellectual Property Office,’ she said.
