Guernsey Best Business Awards short list announced
Nine local businesses are a step closer to walking the red carpet and receiving a prestigious award at the annual Guernsey Awards for Achievement. From a total of 30 companies, a short-list for the three main Business Awards has now been drawn up and for the first time is being revealed before the gala evening in February next year.
The NatWest Best Small Business Award will be contended by Resolution IT Limited, Betley Whitehorne and The Potting Shed Design and Advertising.
Vets4Pets Limited, Schroders (CI) Limited, and Network Insurance have been short-listed for the BWCI Best Medium Business Award.
Two companies from the finance sector; the BWCI Group and IPES, along with retail giant the Blue Diamond Group are in the running for the Healthspan Best Large Business Award.
Chair of the Judging Panel, Deputy Robert Sillars, said they were impressed with the diversity of the submissions and it had proved extremely difficult to separate some of the entrants.
‘Going through the judging process for each of the three awards made it very clear to me that Guernsey has a wide range of businesses who are, in their respective fields, pushing the boundaries and often succeeding in very difficult areas. All too often we hear about the failures in the business world but it was very obvious and inspiring to all the judges that there are some great success stories within our community.’
He added, ‘The judging was extremely close in many cases with all the submissions being of a very high standard. Many of those companies who missed out only narrowly did so and they should be very proud of the achievements they have made during the past year.’
Each of the short-listed companies has given an individual presentation to the judging panel and the recipients of each of the three main Business Awards have been chosen. They, and the winner of the overall Commerce & Employment Guernsey Business of the Year Award will be revealed at the gala awards evening to be held at Beau Sejour on February 4th 2010.
