States of Guernsey
As the current States of Guernsey reaches the end of its first year, the island’s four main industry bodies will be discussing the progress the ministers and deputies have made.

The G4 Pulse Check seminar is being organised by the IoD, GIBA, CGI, the Chamber of Commerce and follows a similar event after the States had been in position for 100 days.

‘At that time the panel felt very positive that the new States Assembly was capable on taking on the tough challenges which Guernsey and its community faced. That seminar provided some useful and positive feedback and now a year on when we have seen unprecedented upheaval in the global economy, it seems the right time to evaluate how our politicians have coped with their first year’ said IoD chairman Mark Thompson.

The panel will be made up of Andrew Ozanne from the IoD, Peter Budwin from CGI, Paul Luxon from Chamber, and Paul Meader from GIBA and the seminar, which is sponsored by KPMG, will be moderated by Mark Trenchard.

The panel, with interaction from the audience, will consider what progress has been made over the last 12 months, what impact the global economic crisis has had on Guernsey’s ability to steer its own course and what steps industry and the States can take to help secure the island’s future prosperity.

‘It’s going to be an extremely interesting seminar and we’re looking forward to a lively debate and some challenging questions for the panel to consider. We hope that industry will be able to provide some valuable insight and support to the island’s Government,’ said Mr Thompson.

Tickets for the event, which will be held at Duke of Richmond Hotel, cost £15 and include a buffet lunch and can be booked by contacting Anne Ewing on 734343 or email emily.pickett@dominion-funds.gg
