A local accountancy practice celebrated its tenth anniversary this month by joining forces with a fellow accountancy firm. From July 1st 2010 Le Lacheur & Co and Alex Picot Guernsey Limited have been trading under the name Le Lacheur Picot.

Le Lacheur & Co was set up ten years ago by Lois Le Lacheur. Trained locally, Mrs Le Lacheur set up her own practice in 2000, which grew to a team of six specialising in accounts preparation and tax for local businesses and individuals, serving around 180 local clients.

Alex Picot was founded in Jersey but has had a long presence in the island, dating back to 1915, when a Guernsey practice was first set up. An independent firm of Chartered Accountants, it offers its clients a full range of audit, accountancy and trust services.

Lois Le Lacheur is now the Managing Director of Le Lacheur Picot and will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the new firm. She will be supported by two Directors, David Picot and Stephen Phillips, both partners of Alex Picot.

Mrs Le Lacheur says the merger will enable her to expand her business, without compromising its core values of close client relationships.

‘My business has expanded over the years due to the provision of a purely local service, where client contact and personal service have been paramount in creating a loyal base of clients. Alex Picot has demonstrated that it has the same working ethos and I am confident this is an exciting way forward to improve all aspects of the service we provide,’ she said.

She added, ‘By joining forces we now have the means to expand our audit capability and increase the volume of clients across our core accounts/tax business. I’d like to reassure all our existing clients that from a day-to-day point of view it is very much business as usual.’

David Picot said the merger would enable Alex Picot to build its Guernsey presence by providing strong support from its Jersey base. ‘We have had long-standing Guernsey connections and are delighted to be taking them forward with Le Lacheur Picot. We pride ourselves on providing a friendly, customer focused, and most importantly, a local service and this merger will see our traditions continue,’ he said.
