The States first annual business survey, led by the Policy Council in conjunction with the Commerce & Employment Department is being mailed to all businesses on the island today.

The Policy & Research Unit of the Policy Council also today announced dates for ‘drop in’ dates of sessions where staff will be on hand to answer any questions businesses may have about the survey.

The survey, welcomed by business leaders, is designed to collate vital information about Guernsey industry to provide better, more robust data for economic analysis.

Dr Andy Sloan, States Economist, said:

‘This business survey will over time provide us with better information about the Guernsey economy to better inform economic policy decisions. Therefore its important for us to ensure that as many businesses respond as possible. We hope we’ve made the survey as straightforward as possible and we’ve road tested it with business to make sure of that. We appreciate that this is the first time this has survey has been attempted so we’ve set up these ‘drop ins’ to provide times where business can come and speak to us first hand to answer any queries business have.’

Survey forms are being sent to every business on the island, from the largest to the smallest, including sole traders and the self employed. The forms are accompanied with a reply paid envelope and a web based version of the survey can be found www.gov.gg/businesssurvey for those who would prefer to respond online.

The initial ‘drop in’ sessions will be held at 5.30pm at Sir Charles Frossard House and have been set for the following dates: 1st, 3rd, 9th and 11th March. If required, and depending on demand, further sessions will be announced.
