Guernsey law firm launches new UK property service
Completing UK property transactions from Guernsey will now be possible thanks to a new service from law firm Collas Day.
The firm is able to act on behalf of clients for property sales, purchases, mortgages and leases for both residential and commercial properties situated in England and Wales. This negates the need to appoint both a UK solicitor and a Guernsey advocate when moving to or from the Island and also saves costs when acquiring property through a Guernsey Company.
Richard Lloyd, Collas Day's UK property expert is heading up the new service along with Senior Partner Chris Bound. He said, "We've seen an increase in the volume of people moving to Guernsey and while some clients often maintain their property interests in the UK, others wish to sell up and purchase local homes. We can now offer one point of contact for both transactions in the UK and on-island. That singular and face-to-face contact without the need to travel back and forth to the UK is a real advantage for clients.
"On the corporate side, we're also able to work more closely with local fiduciary providers who often hold interests in UK property on behalf of Guernsey based trustees," he added.
The firm is able to access up-to-date technology to facilitate instant, online access to the UK Land Registry to obtain title documentation and is also able to obtain search results from the Local Authorities, Water Authorities and environment agencies.
