Guernsey taxi fares to rise
Following a period of public consultation, the Environment Department has given approval for an average increase in maximum taxi fares of 2.96%. Only one response was received by the Department during the period of consultation and this was unsupportive of the proposals. The rise will be effective from Monday 15th October 2012.
The increase in fares equates to an average rise of 2.96% as it is apportioned across the fare structure and the actual fare paid will depend on the tariff used and the duration of the journey.
For example;
- A 3 mile journey on tariff 1* will increase from £8.00 to £8.20, a rise of 20p (equivalent to 2.50%);
- A 3.5 mile journey on tariff 2* will increase from £12.20 to £12.60, a rise of 40p (equivalent to 3.26%)
* Tariff 1 – Normal Hours; i.e. Mon-Fri (7am – 10pm) or Sat / Sun (7am – 7pm)
* Tariff 2 - Public Holidays, i.e. Mon – Fri (10pm – 7am) or Sat / Sun (7pm – 7am)
