A Lively IoD debate is anticipated next month when panellists will consider the question: Guernsey PLC – would you invest?

Alastair Stewart, the moderator at last year’s conference, will return to officiate again at this year’s sell-out event, on Thursday 7 October.

The panellists, announced today, are European lawyer and adviser to the States Alastair Sutton; international financial journalist Simon Gray; Chief Minister Lyndon Trott; European managing director of Sportingbet Bob Dutnall and former chief executive of Guernsey Post Gordon Steele.

Mark Thompson, Chairman of the Guernsey branch of the IOD, said: “We have had a preliminary panellists’ briefing and I am certain that under Alastair Stewart’s moderation we are in for an informative, challenging and, at times, perhaps controversial debate.

The Institute’s 500-seat flagship local event was fully subscribed within 24 hours of members being advised that tickets were on sale.

John Greenfield, Managing Partner of principal sponsor Carey Olsen, said: “This is a much looked forward to landmark event in the business calendar. The IOD continually raises the bar and we are delighted that our sponsorship has enabled the return of Alastair Stewart who is a master at ensuring the right voices are heard.”

Other sponsors of the 2010 debate are The Long Port Group, De Putron Fund Management, Kleinwort Benson and Airtel-Vodafone.
