Mercator Group Guernsey announces senior appointment
Warner Koller has joined the Mercator Group as a client services director.
Having joined from Barclays Wealth, Mr Koller has specific responsibility for covering the firm’s managed trust business, particularly for a large Middle Eastern Bank and has been placed in charge of the client accounting department.
A Chartered Accountant (FCA) and a qualified Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP), Mr Koller has been on the island for some 26 years. He is a well-known face in local financial circles, having held senior trust positions in the Channel Islands, most recently, as a director at Walbrook before it was acquired by Barclays Wealth.
The Mercator Group is one of the few large independent, Guernsey owned, financial services businesses left on the island and this was particularly appealing to Mr Koller.
“Having the power to make decisions locally is one of the large bonuses of an independent firm. Mercator is far from stagnant. As a growing organisation, it is an exciting time for us. We have recently expanded into adjoining premises having grown our staff numbers by 16% since 2007 and are continuing to recruit. We have an exciting future ahead,” said Mr Koller.
David Preston, managing director of the Mercator Group said; “To take on someone of Warner’s calibre is a great benefit to the firm. Warner has a considerable amount of experience within the trust industry and his appointment is an integral part of the future strategic growth of the group.”
