Minimum Wage Law seminars announced
The Minimum Wage (Guernsey) (Law), 2009 will come into force on 1 October 2010 and from
that date a worker must not be paid less than the hourly rate approved by the States of
Guernsey.
To provide the public with practical guidance on rights, obligations, and remedies under the Law, staff of the Employment Relations Service, Commerce and Employment Department are inviting the public to attend free public seminars in September.
The seminars will be suitable for both employers and employees and will cover the requirements of the new Law as well as giving examples of the calculations that are used to determine if a worker is receiving at least the minimum wage level agreed by the States which is £6 per hour for adults.
Two seminars have been scheduled on:
Friday, 3 September at 9.30am and
Wednesday, 8 September at 2pm.
The venue is the Harry Bound Room, Les Cotils Conference Centre, St Peter Port. Each seminar will last for around 1 hour including time for questions.
There will be a restriction on the number of persons that can attend each seminar so you are encouraged to book your place as soon as possible.
