The Channel Islands - the current economic climate and what the future holds
David Smith, economics editor at The Sunday Times to speak in Jersey and Guernsey
He is one of the best known and most respected economics journalists and now The Sunday Times’ economics editor David Smith is making his first visit to the Channel Islands to speak at two ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) events.
David has been at The Sunday Times since 1989 and was praised by Sky News’ Jeff Randall saying ‘David Smith skilfully cuts through the mind-numbing waffle that surrounds much of modern economics, a highly accessible guide to a subject that many claim to understand but very few do.’
Jackie Davis president of the Channel Islands members’ network said: “David has been reporting on economic issues from more than two decades, during that time he has seen periods of growth and recession, so who better to give his views on what the future holds and what we can expect the post-financial crisis economy to look like.
“We are extremely privileged to be able to hear from David and I hope many business professionals from across the islands take this opportunity to listen to what David has to say and put their questions to him.”
David will be speaking at the Old Government House Hotel, St Peter Port in Guernsey on Wednesday 10 October from 6:30pm, and in Jersey at The Royal Yacht, St Hellier the following night again from 6:30pm.
Tickets for the event are £40, this includes a three course dinner. Visit ACCA for more details.
