The parent company of Wave Telecom, Jersey Telecom Group Ltd (JT Group Ltd) has announced a Business Transformation programme designed to reduce it’s cost base and reshape the organisation to ensure it can continue to compete successfully in the future.

The Business Transformation programme will explore both labour and non-labour associated costs across the organisation with an aim to reduce operating costs by £7million by the end of 2010.

JT Group Ltd have informed employees and representatives of the GMB Union that they intend to reduce staff numbers by up to 80 posts before the end of 2010 and have agreed to a request from the GMB Union to reopen the Voluntary Redundancy scheme whilst they both work together to identify and agree how the savings are made.

Tim Ringsdore, Managing Director of Wave Telecom said “Our parent company JT Group has announced a Business Transformation programme today which will result in the organisation addressing it’s structure and the way in which it works ensuring the best products, solutions & highest customer service levels are delivered. Although most of the anticipated job losses will be in Jersey, the Group cannot rule out some reductions in Guernsey. Wave Telecom is a growth area for the JT Group as demonstrated recently through our acquisition of Newtel Guernsey and these changes will allow us to continue to deliver competitively priced solutions and new technologies to the Bailiwick of Guernsey.
