Commerce & Employment
The Commerce and Employment Department is widely seen as one of the most diverse Departments within the States. It has responsibilities for commerce from finance to fishing, and exports to tourism, most of which were handled by individual committees before 2004.
Its mandate is to advise the States on matters relating to ‘the creation of a dynamic and diversified economy through the promotion and development of commerce and industry that is sustainable’.
C&E has to promote the interests of all sectors including exports; financial services; the visitor economy; construction; retail; horticulture; agriculture and fisheries.
