Director, Garry Crossan of local fiduciary service provider, Abacus Trust Company Limited, will be leaving the island for Malta next week, in a move to head up Abacus’ new Maltese corporate arm.

Garry will depart Abacus’ head office in the Isle of Man, to join his new team in Mriehel, Malta as he begins his new role as Chief Executive Officer of Abacus Corporate Services Limited, in October.

Commenting on his move, Garry said “I am very much looking forward to relocating to Malta to take up this challenging new role and to take advantage of the opportunities Malta provides as a well regulated and attractive EU tax jurisdiction for our existing international client base. It is also an ideal geographical location for Abacus to market its services in Europe and the Middle East"

Group Chairman, Chris Talavera said: “Garry has extensive knowledge in the offshore fiduciary and services industry and has vast experience dealing with international clients and fiduciary structures. Establishing a new company within a new marketplace presents a variety of challenges, however we are certain that Garry will lead our new company in the right direction, promoting our services in Malta whilst reflecting the group’s corporate values and objectives.”

The new Maltese company is based in the newly built financial district next to the Malta Financial Services Authority. It offers a full range of corporate services including Yacht and Aircraft Ownership Structures, International Company Formation and Management and the Provision of Officers; services that complement those already offered from their head office in the Isle of Man.

Garry joined Abacus in September 2009, following 22 years in senior management roles in the Cayman Islands. Previous roles include Head of Fiduciary Services for HSBC Cayman, Managing Director of Bank of America Bank & Trust Company Cayman and Regional Fiduciary Director of Ansbacher Cayman Limited.

Garry is an Associate of the Institute of Bankers and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.
