The island is set for a superb day of golf on Thursday 5 August.

A prestigious event in the Ramsey Golf Club’s calendar, the Collins Stewart Cup has already attracted 139 players including top golfers from clubs across the island.

The open competition has been played since the 1890s and attracts a wide range of players of varying abilities from juniors to octogenarians.

The maximum handicap for Thursday’s men’s medal competition is 18 and players will tee off from 8am. As well as earning the Collins Stewart Cup title, the winner and runners-up will also receive gift vouchers.

Head of Collins Stewart in the Isle of Man, Dermot Hamill said, ‘We are proud to once again sponsor this prestigious competition in the island’s golfing calendar, which attracts top players year after year.

‘This is the field that draws the biggest number of players in terms of volume in the whole of Ramsey Golf Week, which is an extremely successful and historical event,’ said Mr Hamill.

Tee-off starts at 8am and goes through to 5.45pm. The 18-hole, parkland course was designed by Scotsman James Braid who won the Open Championship five times.

Ramsey Golf Week runs from Saturday 31 until Saturday 7 August.
