Strand Shopping Centre Isle of Man celebrates anniversary
The Island’s longest established shopping centre is celebrating its 20th birthday by inviting all the Island’s residents to a special party.
The Strand Shopping Centre in Strand Street, Douglas, is set to mark its landmark anniversary with a week of celebrations.
A fun day will be staged on Saturday 7th August and will include a variety of entertainment including music, free face painting, free balloons, clowns, Manx dancers and special in-store promotions.
As part of the fun the Centre is also building a “birthday bank vault” on the ground floor and, from Monday 2nd August until Saturday 7th August, shoppers will have the chance to “win a grand at The Strand”. In order to win the daily cash prizes of £100 and £1,000 on Saturday shoppers are asked to visit The Centre and fill in a cash withdrawal slip. Each day one withdrawal slip will be randomly selected and the winner will then be announced live each morning on the 3FM breakfast show and also posted on our web site www.thestrand.co.im You can enter every day with your entries going through to the mega cash draw on Saturday - so you have six chances of entering and winning.
Centre Manager John Shakespeare said: “The Strand has been an important part of the retail scene on the Isle of Man for 20 years and to mark this milestone we are a holding a week of celebrations in the Centre. Over the last six months there have been many changes and upgrades to the Centre and we would like to invite everyone on the Island to come and visit the Centre and enter into our festivities. Hopefully you will notice a difference, not only with the new shops and café, but also to the more subtle differences like the real flowers, the new doors on Strand and Market Street, free Wi-Fi access, the new signage and the overall general ambience.
“The Centre is committed to the Isle of Man and to giving its shoppers the best shopping experience possible. We’re looking forward to the next 20 years and the many exciting developments yet to come.”
