Angela Knight, Chief Executive of the British Bankers Association (BBA) and an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI), told today’s summit of Presidents from the Institute’s branches that its members have a central role to play in financing Britain’s recovery, by helping channel savings into productive, profitable and employment-creating investment in British business.

“The British Bankers' Association knows the key to growth is unlocking business potential and that enterprises of all sizes play a vital role in supporting Britain’s economy,” she said. “UK banks are supporting businesses and business growth by providing finance as well as providing a range of initiatives designed to help firms achieve their potential. Throughout 2012, CISI and BBA members will work closely together and continue to make efforts and investments nationwide to ensure the success of UK business.”

Ben Shenton Chartered FCSI and President of the Institute’s Jersey Branch, welcomed Mrs Knight’s views, saying: “I was delighted to hear Mrs Knight’s positive comments on our members’ roles in supporting Britain’s recovery. My fellow Presidents from around the UK, and from the rest of Europe and the Middle East and Asia, have had a most productive day discussing how we can combine our clients’ requirements with our professional skills and integrity to help achieve the best results for UK investors, and for the wider global investment community.”

Simon Culhane, Chartered FCSI, Chief Executive Officer of the Institute, affirmed the Institute’s members’ key role in global market development: “The CISI’s growth in the world’s fastest-growing financial markets, and our commitment to the highest standards of ethics and integrity, confirm the renewed importance of globally-recognised qualifications and membership of appropriate professional bodies in turbulent financial times."
