It is just over a week before a host of eminent figures from the global financial services industry convene on Jersey, and local charities are set to benefit from the local sponsorship angle of the event.

The Channel Islands Stock Exchange’s International Business Summit is being held for the first time in Jersey on September 10th at Hotel de France. As a result of Channel Island businesses supporting the event, £19,000 will be shared between fifteen charities, each of which has been chosen by a sponsor firm, including the CISX which chose the RNLI as its charity.

The CISX has attracted a raft of high-profile speakers including Angela Knight, chief executive of the British Bankers Assocation, Tajinda Singh, Deputy Secretary of the International Organisation of Securities Association and Roger Bootle, one of the best known economists from the City of London, amongst other respected names from world finance.

Tamara Menteshvili, Chief Executive of the CISX, commented:

“One of the Business Summit’s defining characteristics is that it raises money for local charities that will hopefully make a direct, positive difference right across the Channel Islands.. The Summit itself is an excellent opportunity for the Channel Islands to demonstrate the excellent work that is conducted here and how the local finance industries perform in a global context. It is very rare for a group of such distinguished experts to convene in the Channel Islands and I am sure the local business communities will relish having the opportunity to listen to and debate with such an impressive field of speakers.”

Ewan Shinton, RNLI Fundraising and Communications Manager south west, says the charity is delighted to have been selected as the CISX’s chosen charity:

“Delegates at this Summit will be only too aware of the financial pressures facing the economy at present and will understand the importance of donations to a charity like ours that continues to help save lives at sea, so we are very grateful to the CISX for its contribution.”

Delegates are invited to register at a cost of £185 per person at www.cisx.com/summit, where further information regarding the programme is outlined.
